Administration and Faculty

Douglas K. Phillips has served as Principal of Bethel Christian Academy since 2011. Before coming to Bethel, he devoted more than 25 years to Christian education and ministry as a teacher, administrator, and pastor at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church and Emmanuel Christian School in Wabash, Indiana. From 1984–1986, he also served as Youth Pastor at East Nashville Free Will Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. For over two decades (1990–2011), he faithfully directed and coordinated the Indiana Free Will Baptist State Youth Camp, impacting the lives of countless young people.

Mr. Phillips earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Free Will Baptist Bible College (Nashville, TN) in 1986 and went on to complete a Master of Arts in Christian School Administration from Grace Theological Seminary (Winona Lake, IN) in 1991. In 1994, he received an Advanced Professional Certificate in Administration from the American Association of Christian Schools and was ordained into the ministry in 1995.

Born and raised in Anderson, Indiana, Doug married his wife, Kathy, on April 12, 1980. Together, they have been blessed with three children: Patrick (Indianapolis, IN), Katie (Indianapolis, IN), and Kallie (Morehead City, NC). Their growing family includes six wonderful grandchildren: Keegan, Liam, Addi Grace, Carter Douglas, Elaina Jewel, and Lorelai Kaye.

In addition to his role as Principal, Mr. Phillips serves as Associate Pastor of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, is an active board member of the North Carolina Christian School Association, and contributes to educational leadership statewide as a member of the Committee of Practitioners (COP) for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

With a heart for Christian education, a love for young people, and a passion for serving the Lord, Doug continues to lead Bethel Christian Academy with the desire that every student will grow academically, spiritually, and personally for the glory of God.
